Winter Is All About Investing In A New Coat – 5 TKA Coat Picks For This Season

Date

The winter season has embraced us, and so has the urge to snuggle up in front of the heater and watch our favourite movies, indulge in hot cocoa and enjoy the calm and cozy elements this chill has to offer (at least in our imagination because this workload isn’t going to complete itself). What we do have time for, however, is combating the cold in style. This winter chill has inspired our wardrobe refresh and has given us a reason (well, maybe an excuse) to invest in a new coat.

Read on to discover our favourite coat picks this season — where to find them and how we love to style them.

The Evans Trench Coat in sand by CAMILLA AND MARC

We know too well that dressing for the changing season can be a tedious task when you expect heavy rain, only to have the sun shining halfway through the day. The Evans Trench Coat by Camilla and Marc is the only way to address this fashion dilemma. This trench coat is cut in a classic double-breasted silhouette (a perfect balance of fitted and comfort) with traditional epaulettes (fancy word for shoulder piece) and a removable belt. We love this trench coat because of its timeless, versatile and wearable nature. Whether you wear it to work, on your way to a quick grocery run or dinner, the beauty of trench coats is that they can be styled up or down and one can question your choice of styling because it was made to be worn however you seem fit! P.s — we know it may seem a little pricey, but the ageless style and transeasonal design will have you rocking this bad boy for many seasons to come (think long term investment).

PANELLED TRENCH COAT from COUNTRY ROAD

This is our second trench recommendation if the Evans Trench Coat is not within your budget and you are looking for something different in terms of the traditional cotton and beige hue. This Panelled Trench Coat from Country Road is lightweight and features epaulette details on the shoulder and a front wrap. We love the storm flap detailing on the front and back, and we would style this two ways: either with a long sleeve turtleneck tee and pants or over our favourite hoodie, sweatpants and sneakers for a more casual look. Again, trench coats are very versatile in nature, so really, there’s no specific way of wearing them. If you are feeling Khaki hues this season, this coat is a must-have in your wardrobe!

WOOL BLEND COAT - LIMITED EDITION from ZARA

This wool blend coat from Zara features a notched lapel collar, side pockets and a front wrap belt. We love the minimal yet striking look of this coat — as well as its grey marl hue. This coat is perfect for meetings, a day in the office (do we even know what that is anymore?) or anywhere in between. There are so many ways you can style this coat — leave it open, wrap it up, wide-leg jeans, flare pants, sweater, tee, boots or sneakers. Its versatile nature will have you mix and match between your favourite outfit vibes.

WOOL BLEND OVERSIZED COAT - LIMITED EDITION from ZARA

Sometimes you want to lay off the fitted coats and wear something that will give you that effortless cool vibe. This is why we love the oversize outerwear trend, and we are definitely in on it this season. Adding an oversized coat to your wardrobe is perfect for those street style moods. All you have to do is pop on a turtle neck jumper, your favourite wide-leg jeans, a pair of boots, and you’re ready for the chill in style. If you’re feeling a more laid back look and not keen on the extra effort — simply pop it over your favourite sweats and sneakers (don’t forget the baseball cap). This coat is cool, chic and stylish. Three elements you can’t go wrong with when styling your outfit.

STAND STUDIO OVERSIZED TEXTURE COAT from FARFETCH

And, of course, the soft, faux fur teddy coat. It was very hard to choose with the abundance of styles, but we appreciate the Stand Studio coat from Farfetch because of its simplicity and quality (plus, you just can’t go wrong with black). This textured coat is synonymous with the winter season with its oversized fit, cosy, warm and comfortable nature. We navigate towards the teddy coat look more when we’re off duty and tend to style it with our favourite jeans and boots. And on the days where you’re too cold to worry about getting creative with your outfit, the teddy coat is perfect to keep your look pared down and minimal because it will go with almost anything in your wardrobe.

So, that sums up our coat picks for this season. What you should take away from this post is that a coat is an extremely versatile piece to own, and there are many ways to style them. Remember that a coat is a long term investment, and you shouldn’t rush into purchasing one (but also don’t wait until the end of the season when they’re sold out). Whatever your budget is, remember it’s best to buy something of good quality.
